Seed Folk-Week 2 Sermon Call To Action

Seed Folk — Week 2: “Connect Like Lydia” Recap

This past Sunday, we spent time with Lydia in Acts 16, a woman whose kindness catalyzed the church. Lydia shows us that God grows the Kingdom through people who create places where others can belong (Acts 16:11–15, 40).

As a businesswoman in the luxury trade of purple cloth, Lydia lived at the intersection of many worlds, business and faith, workers and wealthy clients, insiders and outsiders, and God used those everyday connections to build the first church in Philippi (Acts 16:14). In the same way, God wants to use your connections to lead people to Jesus.

When Lydia opened her home, she wasn’t just offering hospitality; she was making room for God’s mission to take root and grow. Her house became the birthplace of a new faith community (Acts 16:15, 40). God uses ordinary places to connect people to faith, well before they ever enter a church.

Some people are naturally wired like Lydia. They notice who is left out, bring people together, and make spaces feel warm and alive. That wiring is not random; it is a gift God uses to connect people to faith, family, and purpose (Acts 16:15). The church needs you!

And maybe that’s how God first met you, too—through a kind word, an invitation, a shared table, a door opened just wide enough for grace to walk in. Let’s connect like Lydia.

Next Sunday, we’ll meet another kind of Seed Folk. Whether you see yourself as an encourager like Barnabas, a Connector like Lydia, or you’re still discovering your place, this series is about helping you recognize how God is already working through your life.
